Wow, week 6 already! To be honest I wasn't particularly excited about the course today as we have already looked at sites and I have worked on my site quite a bit lately. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find this session rather useful and productive. I am not going to totally change my site this year as I will continue with what I already have but tweak it. However, for next year I am already thinking about how I will design my site so that it is clear and user friendly with a theme for my class. I realise that I already do have a theme but would be keen to develop this so it is really clear. I have been experimenting with how I add my information to the learning site, but at the moment I may be making this a little more time consuming than they need to be. I should really streamline this by going back to good ol' slides. I'm not a particular fan of always using slides but when it comes to not having to double handle information it is easier to write on a slide and then it updates on the site.

It was great to have the opportunity to have a look at other sites and then collaboratively discuss and write thoughts and ideas about them. It was also really beneficial to have others look at my learning site, this gave me the opportunity to think about how clear it is. I have a nature theme coming through so I will add to this and develop this better next year.
Oh my goodness, there are so many things I need to add to my teaching practice and such great learning experiences, but for me this is why I have called my blog 'one step at a time' as I find it easier to embed one step at a time and realise that things don't happen overnight. Small steps to achieve big goals that is my mantra, it was what propelled me towards my walking NZ goal and this is a good way to embed it into my teaching practice too.

As I was pondering (but totally listening as well...) it struck me that I could quite easy make videos of crochet stitches, sewing stitches, woodworking, orienteering skills and so forth and add these as skills that students could practice as a elect time where they could decide what they would like to learn about then present their information. Just some ponderings and a way to create rewindable learning as well as including students interests. They could then start making the videos as well.
So that's all until the next instalment

So good to hear that you got a lot out of today's session Jules. Pondering is great especially when you have some productive outcomes. I really love your nature theme and was pleased to read that you will stay with that this year as your class are very familiar with it. I look forward to seeing where you go from here.
